Volleyball inches to #11 in latest AVCA poll

AVCA Top-25 Coaches Poll
LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY – Another week, another move up the national rankings for the St. Cloud State University volleyball team. After completing a perfect 2-0 weekend of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play, the Huskies moved from #12 to #11 in the latest edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 Coaches Poll.
The move marks the fourth consecutive week St. Cloud State has been ranked in the top-25 poll, the longest streak for the team since the 1996 season. This week, the Huskies received 647 votes in the poll, allowing them to leapfrog Rockhurst for the #11 spot in the poll after wins over Minot State and Mary.
St. Cloud State is one of nine teams from the NSIC ranked in the top-25, with six of those being within the top-15. Minnesota-Duluth (#4), Concordia-St. Paul (#7), Northern State (#8), Southwest Minnesota State (#9), Wayne State (#15), Upper Iowa (#18), Winona State (#19) and Sioux Falls (#24) were also ranked this week, marking the fourth consecutive week at least six NSIC schools have been ranked in the top-25.
The Huskies will return to action this weekend as they host MSU-Moorhead and #8 Northern State at home in two key NSIC matches. Friday's match against the Dragons is slated to begin at 6 p.m. while Saturday's match against the Wolves will start at 2 p.m.
