INDIANPOLIS, MINN. – The St. Cloud State University volleyball team remained in the top-8 in the second NCAA Regional Rankings. The Huskies, who were ranked fifth last week, moved to sixth this week after a split with Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul last weekend.
St. Cloud State was one of six teams ranked from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) ranked this past week. Joining the Huskies in the top-10 were Minnesota-Duluth (No. 2), Concordia-St. Paul (No. 3), Northern State (No. 4), Wayne State (No. 9) and Winona State (No. 10).
The NSIC, Great American Conference (GAC) and Mid-America Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the NCAA Central Region, which includes 39 women's volleyball teams located throughout the Midwest. The top eight teams in the region will advance to the Regional Round of the NCAA Tournament, which will take place December 5-7 at a yet to be determined site. The conference tournament winners will earn an automatic birth to the NCAA Tournament, and the other five spots will be rewarded on an at large basis.
This is the second of three NCAA Regional Rankings that will be released throughout the remaining weeks of the regular and postseason. The final regional rankings will be released on Wednesday, November 20 following the final weekend of regular season play for Division II volleyball teams.
