Huskies take down Augie in home and conference opener

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 8 St. Cloud State Volleyball (7-2 overall, 1-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) swept Augustana (6-3, 0-1 NSIC) in its home and conference opener in front of a raucous crowd at Halenbeck Hall on Friday night. The Huskies took down the Vikings in straight sets, winning the match 25-22, 25-20 and 25-23.

Senior outside hitter Shelby Kimm (North Liberty, Iowa) led the way with a 13-kill, 11-dig double-double and became just the 13^th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career digs.

NOTABLES

SCSU improved to 32-50 all-time against Augustana but own a 9-1 mark in the last 10 matches against the Vikings which includes a nine match win streak dating back to 2021. The Huskies also improved to 8-18 all-time against AU in St. Cloud.
The Huskies moved to 1-0 in home matches and 6-1 in three set matches.
SCSU led the match in points (60-49), kills (45-39), aces (10-1) and assists (44-38). Augie led in blocks (9-5) and digs (43-41).
The Huskies 10 aces tied their single-match season high.
Kimm became just the 13^th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career digs. She recorded her fourth double-double of the season and the 23^rd of her career. Her 13 kills and 11 digs both led the match while her kills were a season-best for a three-set match.
LaPlant's 41 assists were a match high. It was her third match this season with 40+ assists and first 40+ assist three-set match.
Freshman middle blocker Brynn Panek (Avon, Minn.) sent down seven kills.
Senior middle blocker Hannah Bruskiewicz (Rogers, Minn.) recorded six kills.
Sophomore middle blocker Kendall Huhnerkoch (Redwood Falls, Minn.) posted five kills on seven swings in two sets.
Freshman defensive specialist Clara Keaveny (Waconia, Minn.) tallied a match and career-high four aces. It also tied the most by any Husky in a match this season.
Junior libero Laurin Hamann (Manitowoc, Wis.) contributed 10 digs.
