SCSU Swim and Dive teams place first at St. Thomas Invite

The St. Cloud State University men's and women's swim and dive teams captured first place team finishes at the 2019 JoAnn Andregg Invitational, which was held on Nov. 15-16 at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.
SCSU dominated the competition by winning 22 of the events at the two-day meet. SCSU's women's team won the meet with a total of 1139 points, while the SCSU men's team won top honors with a total of 1168.5 points.

In the second day of events, the SCSU women's 400 medley relay placed first along with a first place time of 3:11.41 in the men's 400 free relay (Joel Huth, Abe Towley, Matheus Laperriere and Kyle Weis). Individually, Garrett Alleven won the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.17 and Matheus Laperriere placed first in the men's 400 IM with a time of 4:18.75.
Kasey Milstroh won the women's 200 free with a time of 1:56.17 and Chelsea Gehrke won the women's 100 free at 53.63. In the men's competition, Huth added a first place finish with a time of 1:46.15 in the 200 free and Kevin Guenter placed first in the men's 200 back at 1:56.17. In the 200 breaststroke, Jayden Porter placed first at 2:12.24 and Gavin Bloch also won the 1650 free with a time of 16:53.06.
In the first day of events on Nov. 15, SCSU's 200 free relay of Gehrke, Alaina Friske, Alexis Burroughs and Milstroh placed first with a time of 1:37.38. Rosalind Pang scored a first place in the women's 500 free at 5:17.01 and Milstroh turned in another top place in the 50 free at 20.77 and placed first in the 100 backstroke at 1:00.08.
In the men's 200 free relay, the SCSU team of Huth, Sam Artz, Weis and Townley placed first at 1:25.68 and the 800 free relay of Laperriere, Huth, Bobby Poynter and Artz placed first at 7:07.73. Laperriere placed first in the 500 free at 4:49.09 and Townley placed first in the men's 50 freestyle at 20.77. In the 100 fly, Artz placed first at 52.74 and Weis captured first in the men's 100 backstroke at 53.25.
The Huskies continued their success in the diving events at the UST Invite as Alyssa Doherty brought home the top place in the women's 3M diving with 255.60 points. Madison Brinkman placed second at 251.40 and Rebekah Stone placed third in the event at 244.40. The Huskies' Evan Infante placed second in the men's 3M diving at 259.95.
In the women's 1M diving event, SCSU took the top four places with Stone winning the top spot at 424.40. Meredith Matchinsky placed second for SCSU in the 1M event with a score of 414.35, Doherty placed third at 400.20 and Brinkman placed fourth at 395.05.
The Huskies will return to action on Dec. 6-8 at the Rochester Invitational in Rochester, Minn.

In the 100 fly, Artz placed first at 52.74 and Weis captured first in the men's 100 backstroke at 53.25.
The Huskies continued their success in the diving events at the UST Invite as Alyssa Doherty brought home the top place in the women's 3M diving with 255.60 points. Madison Brinkman placed second at 251.40 and Rebekah Stone placed third in the event at 244.40. The Huskies' Evan Infante placed second in the men's 3M diving at 259.95.
