SCSU Swim & Dive Opens 2026-27 Season against Northern Michigan

Huskies to host Northern Michigan at Halenbeck Hall Aquatics Center
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Swim & Dive is slated to begin the 2026-27 season this weekend with a two-day meet against Northern Michigan at the Halenbeck Hall Aquatics Center. The meet will take place on Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3 as a part of Homecoming Week for SCSU. The competition will also serve as Senior and Parents Day for the team.

The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. CT on Friday and 10:00 a.m. CT on Saturday. The meet will be streamed for free on the NSIC Network through MidCo Sports +.
MEN'S PREVIEW
The SCSU men are coming off a 13th place finish at the 2026 NCAA Championships, its fourth-best finish in program history. The men's team finished with 83 points and had 10 All-America performances, six in individual events and four in relays.
Among the four individual who earned All-America recognition last season, two return for the Huskies in 2026-27, one in swimming and one in diving. Senior Lance Godard (Lee's Summit, Mo.) leads the way for the swimmers after earning individual All-America finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (13th) and 100-yard butterfly (16th) last season. On the diving board, junior Jimmy Nord (Chisago City, Minn.) finished 10th in the 1-meter dive and 16th in the 3-meter dive a season ago.
WOMEN'S PREVIEW
The women's team was selected to finish second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. Additionally, senior Kate Turner (Greendale, Wis.) and junior Abriella Werner (Soldotna, Alaska) were selected as the 2026-27 Athletes to Watch.
The Huskies received 67 points and one first-place vote in the poll, finishing behind preseason favorite Minnesota State (81 points, nine first-place votes). Selected to finish third was Augustana (66), followed by Sioux Falls (52), UMary (47), Concordia-St. Paul (42), MSU Moorhead (34), Southwest Minnesota State (26), Northern State (14) and Jamestown (12).
Turner is set for her senior campaign after a pair of top-five finishes at the 2026 NSIC Championships. She finished fourth in the 400 IM and fifth in the 500 freestyle, posting personal bests in both events. Turner also posted first-place finishes in four regular season meets over last season.
Werner returned to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season last year, finishing 17th in the 3M dive and 22nd in the 1M dive. At the NSIC meet, she finished fourth in the 1M dive and sixth in the 3M dive. Her prelim score of 407.10 in the 3M dive at the NSIC Championships was a person best.
