INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The St. Cloud State University volleyball team was once again ranked in the top-8 in the final NCAA Regional Ranking. The Huskies stayed steady at sixth in the regional rankings for the second consecutive week as they head into their first ever appearance in the NSIC Tournament.
There was a bit of a shake up in the regional rankings, though the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) still accounted for six of the top-10 teams in the Central Region. With Nebraska-Kearney holding firm to its spot at the top, Northern State moved to No. 2 in the region, while Minnesota-Duluth and Concordia-St. Paul moved to No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. St. Cloud State's conference tournament foe Wayne State also moved up the rankings, making the leap from No. 9 to No. 7 in the latest version.
The NSIC, Great American Conference (GAC) and Mid-America Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the NCAA Central Region, which includes 39 women's volleyball teams located throughout the Midwest. The top eight teams in the region will advance to the Regional Round of the NCAA Tournament, which will take place December 5-7 at a yet to be determined site. The conference tournament winners will earn an automatic birth to the NCAA Tournament, and the other five spots will be rewarded on an at large basis.
