Dammann's 27 Point Effort Leads Huskies into Quarterfinals of NSIC Tournament

St. Cloud State defeated Minnesota State 80-63 at Halenbeck Hall in the first round of the NSIC Tournament
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - In the first round of the NSIC Women's Basketball Tournament, St. Cloud State (18-9, 14-8 NSIC) defeated Minnesota State Mankato 80-63 at Halenbeck Hall on February 27, 2019. Wednesday's victory over the Mavericks marks the first time since the 2014-15 season that SCSU has advanced past the first round in the NSIC tournament.
St. Cloud State will face Bemidji State in the NSIC Quarterfinals at 5:30 PM CT at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Saturday, March 2nd. The Beavers enter the quarterfinals as the NSIC north's eight seed after taking down the south's top-seeded Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears 73-70 on Wednesday night. Of note, CSP was ranked seventh in the second NCAA regional poll.
Madelin Dammann paced the Huskies' scoring efforts, posting a career high 27 points in SCSU's first round victory, while also recording eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. Erin Navratil was 3-4 from beyond the arc while also contributing 11 points off of the Huskies' bench. Nikki Kilboten charted her third double-double of the season, putting up 11 points and 13 rebounds in the last contest at Halenbeck Hall of the season.
As a team, St. Cloud State out-scored Mankato in three of the four quarters played on Wednesday night, while also out-rebounding the Mavericks 39-29. SCSU shot 43.3 percent from the field, 48 percent from three and 84.2 percent at the free throw line.

Uter tallied three points while dishing out three assists and recording one rebound. Doucette produced 14 points, five rebounds and three assists in the first round victory.
