
Jack and Nick Poehling sign pro hockey contacts

The brothers are residents of Lakeville, Minn. and graduates of Lakeville North High School, and both served as team alternate captains for the Huskies in 2019-20.
A 2019-20 All-NCHC Honorable Mention pick at forward, Jack Poehling scored nine goals, 11 assists and 20 points as a senior. In four seasons with the Huskies, Jack Poehling scored 30 goals, 31 assists and 61 points in 144 games played. In 2019-20, he was named the team's Sam LoPresti Award (Most Determined Player) recipient.
Nick Poehling led all SCSU players with 18 assists as a senior and was second on the club with 26 points (8g/18a).  Across four seasons with the Huskies, Nick Poehling amassed 66 points (25-41=66) in 143 games played.
Both players won regular-season NCHC championships in 2018 and 2019 and played in the NCAA Tournament in each season. With St. Cloud State, the brothers were teammates with LA Kings forward Blake Lizotte, as well as Kings prospects Mikey Eyssimont and David Hrenak. Their younger brother Ryan Poehling also played three seasons of hockey at SCSU from 2016-19 and now currently plays with the Montreal Canadiens organization.
Other SCSU players from the 2019-20 roster who have signed pro contracts include Jack Ahcan (Boston Bruins of the NHL), Clark Kuster (Kalamazoo K-Wings of the ECHL) and Jake Wahlin (Rapid City Rush of the ECHL).
The Huskies have enjoyed a long tradition of advancing former players into the professional ranks. A total of 36 former SCSU student-athletes have gone on to play games in the NHL since the 1930s. Former SCSU players who saw ice time during the 2019-20 season in the NHL include Nic Dowd (Washington), Nick Jensen (Washington), Patrick Russell (Edmonton), Ryan Poehling (Montreal), Charlie Lindgren (Montreal), Blake Lizotte (Los Angeles), Kevin Gravel (Toronto), Jonny Brodzinski (San Jose) and Dennis Cholowski (Detroit).
