St. Cloud State men's hockey sweeps Miami

The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (10-12-4, 7-9-0 NCHC) completed its second consecutive weekend home sweep with a 3-0 shutout over Miami University (6-16-4, 3-11-2 NCHC) on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
SCSU goalie David Hrenak tied a team record for career shutout with his nine shutout in the victory over Miami. He is now tied for the team record with Scott Meyer, who had nine shutouts during his collegiate career from 1996-01 at SCSU. In the contest tonight, Hrenak had 18 saves as the Huskies outshot the RedHawks 38-18.
After another scoreless first period in which the Huskies outshot Miami 16-8, SCSU etched the game winner at 8:15 of the second period when Nick Poehling scored with assists from Easton Brodzinski and Sam Hentges on the power play. This was Poehling's seventh goal of the season and his 24th career goal at SCSU.
In the third period, SCSU padded its lead to 2-0 with a goal by Micah Miller at 5:06 that featured assists from Nick Poehling and Jack Poehling. Miller now has six goals this season and it was also his 10th career for the Huskies. Nick Poehling completed his evening with 1g/1a, which moved his season totals to 11 assists and 18 points.
To end the evening's offense, Brodzinski scored his team leading 11th goal of the season at 7:37 of the third period. Jake Wahlin provided the lone assist on the goal, which was Brodzinski's 41st career marker for the Huskies.
On the night, SCSU was 1-2 on the power and it was a perfect 2-2 on the penalty kill.
