BEMIDJI, MINN. – The St. Cloud State University men's basketball team fell in its weekend opener at Bemidji State University. Despite a strong performance from senior guard Trevon Marshall (Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township), the Huskies were unable to leave Bemidji, Minnesota with a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) victory, as they fell to the Beavers by a final score of 86-65.
St. Cloud State had no answer for Bemidji State's size, as the visiting team trailed 47-24 entering the locker room at half. In the second half, the Huskies seemed to be a different team, as they tied to crawl their way out of the double-digit deficit, even going so far as to outscore the Beavers 41-39. Sadly, it wasn't enough, as the team fell 86-65 in its second to last game of 2019-20.
Marshall had another strong day for St. Cloud State, as he led the Huskies in scoring with 27 points on 11-20 shooting. Caleb Donaldson (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington) added 12 points, while Anthony Roberts (Chicago, Ill. / Oak Park) led with 10 rebounds.
With the loss, the Huskies record now stands at 13-14 and they are 10-11 in NSIC play. St. Cloud State will conclude the regular season on Saturday, February 22 when the team faces Minnesota-Crookston at 5:30 p.m. in Crookston, Minnesota.
