ST. CLOUD, MINN. - After another successful, if not slightly turbulent, athletics year, the St. Cloud State University athletics department will host its annual Senior Send Off on Monday, April 26. The event will recognize the senior class of 2021 and the accomplishment of all St. Cloud State athletic teams after the most unique year college athletics has seen in many years.Â
The event will take place outside on the lawn between the Husky Stadium and Herb Brooks National Hockey Center and will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 26. The event will feature remarks from Director of Athletics Heather Weems and University President Robbyn Wacker and food will be provided to attendees. This event is not open to the public, as only student-athletes, coaches and athletics support staff are invited to attend.Â
The Huskies athletic teams excelled in a year filled with twists and turns. In total, six teams either qualified themselves or saw individual student-athletes qualify for their respective NCAA tournaments, including women's basketball, men's hockey, men's and women's swimming and diving, indoor track and field and wrestling. Additionally, the St. Cloud State wrestling team won its third consecutive national title and fifth in the last sixth season, while the men's hockey team reached the NCAA Championship game for the first time in program history. Twelve winter sport student-athletes received All-America nods at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, while a slew of student-athletes earned either All-Conference or Academic All-Conference honors throughout the academic year.Â
