Beck and Quam Named St. Cloud State Senior Athletes of the Year

Duo joins long list of SCSU athletes to earn top department honor annually given since 1996-97
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Athletics has named swim & dive athlete Mason Beck (Dickinson, N.D.) and soccer athlete Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.) as the 2025-26 St. Cloud State Senior Athletes of the Year. The award is annually given to the top male and female Husky with the most impressive comprehensive collegiate career who exhausted or concluded his or her collegiate eligibility. Both former Huskies have experienced great success in their sport, earning multiple All-Conference and All-America honors while leading their programs to new heights.
"This recognition reelects years of hard work, sacrifice, and commitment," said Director or Athletics Holly Schreiner. "Mason and Brooke have represented St. Cloud State University with pride and integrity, and we are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.
Beck contributed to the long-lasting legacy of men's swimming and diving at SCSU, helping the Huskies earn four consecutive top 20 national finishes, including a program best eighth-place finish in 2025 while earning 17 All-America honors, five conference titles and five school records. He is the second consecutive and fourth male swim and dive athlete to earn Senior Athlete of the Year honors, joining Mike Wencl (1999-00), Alex Bryson (2014-15) and Raf Hendriks (2025-26). At the conference level, Beck captured five conference titles, taking home gold three conference titles as a freshman in 2023 in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay before winning the 200 medley relay in 2024 and 200 freestyle relay in 2026. At the national level, Beck earned three first-team All-American honors in the 200 freestyle relay with a fourth-place finish in 2025, and seventh-place finishes in 2023 and 2026. Beck earned individual All-America honors three times in the 50 freestyle (ninth) and 100 freestyle (13th) in 2025 and in the 50 freestyle (ninth) in 2026. He leaves St. Cloud with five school records, setting the top times in the 100 freestyle (43.57), 200 freestyle relay (1:18.35), 400 freestyle relay (2:54.37), 200 medley relay (1:26.33) and 400 medley relay (3:11.11).
Quam helped raise the for the women's soccer program in her four seasons in the black and red, becoming the program's first All-American American while guiding the Huskies to its first-ever conference championship, first NCAA Tournament appearance and first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. Additionally, she is the first women's soccer athlete to be named SCSU's Senior Athlete of the Year. Quam earned three consecutive All-NSIC honors (2023 first team, 2024 second team, 2025 first team) and two All-Region honors (2023 USC/D2CCA first team, 2025 USC/D2CCA first team). She was named the 2025 NSIC Midfielder of the Year and a 2025 D2CCA All-America Third Team honoree after leading the NSIC in assists with eight and adding two goals for 12 points.
Quam joined SCSU's 25-point club in her final campaign and finished her career ranked 14th all-time in career scoring with 36 points (7g/22a). Her eight assists are the eighth-most in a single season in program history while her 22 career assists rank second. She had three assists against UW-Parkside on Sept. 12, 2026, becoming just the second Husky in program history to have multiple games of three or more assists. With Quam on the pitch, the Huskies won its first-ever conference title by winning the 2023 NSIC Regular Season Championship, advanced to its first three NCAA Tournaments in 2023-25 and reached the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history in 2025. SCSU set 10 team records in 2025, including most wins (16) and most conference wins (11). In the classroom, Quam was named an All-NSIC Academic recipient three times (2023-25) and was named a 2025 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Second Team honoree.
