Huskies bounce back in dominating fashion to earn series split with 4-1 victory
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – After a disappointing showing on Friday, No. 4 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (9-3-0, 2-2-0 NCHC) bounced back in a big way, defeating No. 17 Western Michigan, 4-1, on Saturday night at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. The Huskies dominated the game in every fashion, as they scored in the game's first 65 seconds, outshot the Broncos, 29-12, and won 40-of-60 faceoffs.
TURNING POINT
The Huskies grabbed the momentum from the get-go, scoring just 1:05 into the game, as senior forward Grant Cruikshank (Delafield, Wis.) gobbled up a rebound off a shot from senior forward Micah Miller (Grand Rapids, Minn.) and buried a shot into the back of the net to score the game's first goal. St. Cloud State set the tone early with the Cruikshank score and would outshoot the Broncos 13-2 in the period.
A goal from its fourth line would later prove to be the game-winner, as senior Aidan Spellacy (Lakewood, Ohio) scored at the 14:52 point of the period off assists from senior defenseman Ondrej Trejbal (Hamry nad Sazavau, Czech Republic) and redshirt freshman Ryan Rosborough (Mt. Brydges, Ontario).
TOP HUSKIES
St. Cloud State will hit the road for a conference road series at Colorado College next. The series is set for Nov. 18-19 at Ed Robson Arena.
