Basse makes season-high 36 saves, Okabe scores two goals
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – No. 4/5 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (11-3-0, 4-2-0 NCHC) scored three and first period and added goals in the second and third to beat Colorado College (5-8-1, 2-3-1 NCHC) on Saturday night at Ed Robson Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo. Senior forward Zach Okabe (Okotoks, Alberta) scored twice to lead the offensive charge while junior goalie Dominic Basse (Alexandria, Va.) made a season-high 36 saves in a shutout performance over his former team.

The Huskies scored early in the second game of the series, as freshman forward Jack Rogers (East Northport, N.Y.) scored his first collegiate goal just 5:03 into the game. Rogers was able to deflect a shot from senior defenseman Brendan Bushy (Thief River Falls, Minn.) to get the Huskies on the scoreboard. St. Cloud State would later tack on goals from sophomore defenseman Josh Luedtke (Minnetonka, Minn.) and senior forward Grant Cruikshank (Delafield, Wis.) to grab complete control of the game.

NOTES
- St. Cloud State's 5-0 win marked its best win margin of the season, surpassing its 4-0 win over St. Thomas (Oct. 2) and a 5-1 victory over Wisconsin (Oct. 14).
- With the win, St. Cloud State improved to 10-1-0 when scoring first, 6-1-0 when leading after the first period and 9-0-0 when leading after two periods.
- St. Cloud State's three-goal output in the first period matched the best scoring period of the season. The Huskies also scored three goals in the first period at St. Thomas on Oct. 1 and in the second period at Wisconsin on Oct. 14.
- Basse made a season-high 36 saves, marking just the fifth time in his career he has made 35 or more saves.
- Okabe scored two goals, marking the first time this season and third time in his career he has scored two or more goals. He also added an assist to record his fifth career game with three or more points.
- Okabe scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season, as well as his 31st and 32nd goals of his career. His eighth assist of the season marked his 43rd of his career.
- Krannila continued an impressive scoring stretch with two assists, his third consecutive game with multiple points. It marked the sixth time this season and the 21st time in his career he has recorded multiple points.
- Junior forward Veeti Miettinen (Espoo, Finland) had a pair of assists in the game, marking his third multi-point game of the season and the 15th of his career.
- Rogers scored the first goal of the game in the first period, marking his first collegiate goal.
- Cruikshank scored his 11th goal of the season with a first period power play score. With the score, Cruikshank matches a career-best for goals in a season, equaling his 2018-19 and 2019-20 marks at Colorado College.
- Luedtke scored his first goal of the season with a first period score. It was his first goal since scoring against Colorado College on Feb. 26, 2022.
- Senior defenseman Dylan Anhorn (Calgary, Alberta) extended his team lead in assists with his 12th assist of the season.
- Bushy recorded a point for the second consecutive game with his first assist of the season.
- Sophomore defenseman Jack Peart (Grand Rapids, Minn.) notched an assist for the third consecutive game and for the ninth time this season.
- Senior defenseman Ondrej Trejbal (Hamry Nad Sazavou, Czech Republic) and freshman forward Adam Ingram (West St. Paul, Manitoba) each recorded their third assists of the season.
