
No. 10/11 St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey Drops Weekend Opener to UMD in Overtime

Third Consecutive OT game with the Bulldogs comes up short
DULUTH, Minn. – No. 10/11 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (17-12-4, 9-10-4 NCHC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead halfway through the second period, but No. 11/10 Minnesota Duluth (17-14-4, 10-9-4 NCHC) stormed back to score three straight goals to win, 3-2, in overtime on Friday night. The Bulldogs clinched the victory with a Kobe Roth goal just 31 seconds into overtime at Amsoil Arena.
TURNING POINT
The Bulldogs were able to take advantage of their only five-on-three power play early in the third period when Kobe Roth scored his 12th goal of the season at the 5:13 mark of the third period to knot the game at 2. The Huskies were not able to find that go ahead goal the remainder of the evening.

St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth will meet for one final time in the regular season on Saturday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT at Amosil Arena.

TOP HUSKIES
- Junior forward Jami Krannila (Nokia, Finland) tallied the Huskies' first goal at 1:42 of the second period after a terrific poke check from junior forward Zach Okabe (Okotoks, Alberta) in the offensive zone. It was Krannila's 14th goal of the year, which places him second on the team.
- Senior defenseman Nick Perbix (Elk River, Minn.) put the Huskies up 2-0 on a beautiful wrister from between the circles to beat UMD goalie Ryan Fanti.
- St. Cloud State can still clinch home ice in the NCHC quarterfinals with a regulation win over the Bulldogs on Saturday night.
- Senior forward Easton Brodzinski (Blaine, Minn.) set a St. Cloud State program record by playing in his 172nd career game, surpassing 2013 Hobey Baker winner Drew LeBlanc, who played in 171 games from 2008-13.
- St. Cloud State's nation-leading power play unit was 1-of-4 with a man-advantage in the game and now sits at 32.8 percent (44-of-134) on the season.
- Krannila scored his 14th goal of the season in the second period. He ranks second on the team in goals, behind only graduate forward Kevin Fitzgerald (Hinsdale, Ill.) with 16.
- Perbix's second period goal was his first power play goal and fourth goal overall this season.
- Krannila and Perbix now total 28 points on the team, second behind only Fitzgerald's 33.
- Okabe recorded his 15th assist of the season and is now just one off of his career high of 16 from last season.
- Graduate goalie David Hrenak (Povazska Bystrica, Slovakia) was credited with his second assist of the season and the third in his career on Perbix's goal.
