
Penalties Doom No. 1 St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey in Loss to UMD

Huskies yield four power play goals, fall 5-3
DULUTH, Minn. – Penalties doomed the game for No. 1 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (18-7-0, 10-5-0 NCHC), who fell to Minnesota Duluth (11-13-1, 6-9-0 NCHC), 5-3, on Friday night at Amsoil Arena. After the Huskies took a 2-1 lead in the second period, the Bulldogs scored four straight power play goals, including three during a five-minute major, to take control of the game and seal the victory.
TURNING POINT
The Huskies and Bulldogs were tied at 2-2 when sophomore defenseman Josh Luedtke (Minnetonka, Minn.) was called for a five-minute major for a hit to the back near the end of the second period. UMD was able to capitalize on the situation, scoring three times to extend its lead to 5-2.
St. Cloud State added a goal later in the period but couldn't find the back of the net again with the extra attacker, ultimately falling 5-3.

TOP HUSKIES
- Freshman forward Adam Ingram (West St. Paul, Manitoba) led the offensive attack for the Huskies, scoring two goals and an assist for three points.
- Senior forward Grant Cruikshank (Delafield, Wis.) scored his 17th goal of the season with a power play score in the second period.
- Following the loss, St. Cloud State fell to 78-59-11 against Minnesota Duluth and 30-32-3 against the Bulldogs in Duluth.
- The Huskies scored on the power play, its third consecutive game scoring with the man advantage. On the season, SCSU's conversion rate improved to 25.3 percent (24-of-95).
- Ingram played the best statistical game of his career to-date, setting career highs in goals (two) and points (three). The scores were his third and fourth goals on the season, while his assist was his 10th, giving him 14 points on the season.
- Cruikshank's tally in the second was his 17th goal of the season, a mark which ranks third in the NCAA. The power play goal was his fifth of the season, moving him to a tie for the team lead with senior forward Zach Okabe (Okotoks, Alberta).
- Sophomore Mason Salquist (Grand Forks, N.D.), junior forward Joe Molenaar (Minnetonka, Minn.), sophomore defenseman Jack Peart (Grand Rapids, Minn.) and junior forward Veeti Miettinen (Espoo, Finland) all recorded an assist for the Huskies.
- Senior goalie Jaxon Castor (Phoenix, Ariz.) made 23 saves in the game, the 11th time this season and 20th time in his career he has made 20 or more saves.
