
St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Rallies Back Against Wayne State

Huskies come back to win 65-61 over the Wildcats
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team rebounded back against the Wayne State Wildcats after a second half comeback Saturday evening at Halenbeck Hall. After a slow second period to end the half down, the Huskies outscored Wayne State during the third and fourth period to come back 65-61 over the Wildcats. St. Cloud shot .431 from the field and two athletes scored in the double-digits.
GAME SUMMARY
The Huskies opened up the game on a 5-0 run over the Wildcats three minutes in. Wayne State would cut St. Clouds lead to just one, 12-11, with 2:25 left in the first. St. Cloud then went up by seven until the Wildcats cut the lead to three to end the period 18-15 in favor of the Huskies. During the second period, St. Cloud would go up by six until Wayne State chipped away at the Huskies lead and took over the lead. St. Cloud struggled to get anything going shooting only a .231 from the field and closed the half down 35-29.
Back on the court for the third, Wayne State would go on a 6-0 run to go up 41-29 over the Huskies. St. Cloud would then go on the offensive and rally back going a six point run and tie the game at 45 going into the fourth quarter. The Huskies would take the early lead, 47-45 after Katrina Theis hit a layup in the paint. From there, it was a battle between each team to hang onto the lead as the game would be tied five more times. Dru Henning would cash a three-pointer to put the Huskies back on top 62-61 with just over a minute left. With just 30 left, Tori Peschel nailed a layup while getting fouled for an extra shot at the line that she would sink to put the Huskies up 65-61. Wayne State was unable to get a shot off and the Huskies would come away with a 65-61 victory.

The Huskies are on the road next weekend to take on NSIC North opponents Northern State and MSU Moorhead on Feb. 3 and Feb. 4.
