St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Not Enough in Loss to Northern State

Huskies fall 59-50 after second half offensive slump
ABERDEEN, SD - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team fell in a tough matchup to the Northern State Wolves Friday evening at the Wachs Arena in Aberdeen, SD. The Huskies fell 59-50 to the Wolves following a second half offensive slump.
GAME SUMMARY
It was a low scoring game in the opening minutes of play as the score was just 5-4 in favor of Northern State at the 4:21 mark of the first. St. Cloud would take over the lead to close out the first period up 12-8. The Huskies would go up by six to open up the second period with a jump shot by Jada Eggebrecht just ten seconds in. Northern State would go on a 7-0 run to go back on top 15-14 over SCSU. At the 3:52 mark, St. Cloud would jump up by three, 23-20, until another 7-0 run by the Wolves put them up 27-23 with just over a minute left in the second period. The half would end with the Huskies trailing 27-25. Northern State outscored St. Cloud 19-13 in the second with St. Cloud shooting a .364 from the field.
During the third, St. Cloud jumped on top 31-29 two minutes in after a layup in paint by Katrina Theis. From there, Northern State would jump back on top while holding the lead for the rest of third with the largest point deficit being six points for the Huskies. The period would end with St. Cloud down 42-37. During the fourth period, St. Cloud just couldn't find the offensive momentum to carry them ahead of the Wolves. At the 5:07 mark, a three-pointer by Jasmine Litt would bring it to a four point, 46-42, game. With just under two minutes left, St. Cloud would trail 53-47 after Eggebrecht sank a three. Time was not in favor of the Huskies as they had to foul to stop the clock in hopes of making a play. Northern State would seal the game at the line with the Huskies falling 59-50. SCSU struggled on offense in the second half shooting .276 in both periods combined.

The Huskies will travel up to Moorhead, MN tomorrow to take on the MSU Moorhead Dragons. The game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
