Hall and Molenaar each score as Huskies drop series opener in Mankato 3-2
MANKATO, Minn. – No. 8/7 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (1-2-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) fell 3-2 in overtime to (RV) Minnesota State (1-0-0, 0-0-0 CCHA) in Friday's series opener at the Mayo Clinic HEC in Mankato. Shots were even at 23 as freshman forward Barrett Hall and senior forward Joe Molenaar each scored for SCSU.in the loss.
Hall opened the scoring with a powerful finish off a feed from fellow freshman forward Verner Miettenen seven minutes into the first period. Molenaar would make it 2-0 Huskies just two minutes into the second, burying a shot from the left circle on the back door.
Minnesota State scored three unanswered the rest of the way, scoring twice in the second period to even things at two before scoring the game-winner three minutes into the overtime period.
Fifth-year defenseman Dylan Anhorn and junior defenseman Josh Luedtke provided the assists on Molenaar's goal while senior goaltender Dominic Basse recorded 24 saves on the evening.

- Verner Miettenen, Dylan Anhorn and Josh Luedtke each provided an assist with Miettenen and Anhorn tallying their second of the season.
- St. Cloud State's penalty kill turned away all three MSU power plays while the SCSU power play went 0-for-3.
- Shots were even at 23.
