Kupka scores lone SCSU goal as Huskies fall 5-1 in series finale
MANKATO, Minn. – No. 8/7 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (1-3-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) fell 5-1 to (RV) Minnesota State (2-0-0, 0-0-0 CCHA) in Saturday's series finale at the Mayo Clinic HEC in Mankato. Shots were even at 30 as fifth year forward Kyler Kupka scored St. Cloud State's lone goal.
Minnesota State scored once in the first and added back-to-back goals in a 40 second span early in the second period to build a 3-0 lead through the game's first 40 minutes. Kupka scored his first goal of the season with an extra attacker on the ice with just under five minutes to play in regulation before the Mavericks tacked on two empty-netters to make it a 5-1 final.
Freshman goaltender Isak Posch made his collegiate debut in the loss and logged 33:18 scoreless minutes of relief, turning away each of the 14 shots he faced.
