Huskies travel to Joplin, Missouri for NCAA Regional race on Saturday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Cross Country continues its postseason competition this Saturday with the NCAA Central Region Championships held in Joplin, Missouri at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. The Women's 6,000-meter race is set to go off at 10 a.m. CT. Live results will be provided by Missouri Southern State and will be available on Athletic Live/HeartlandTiming.
The Huskies have earned a top-25 at the NCAA Central Region Championships in four consecutive seasons dating back to 2018. Last fall, the Huskies placed 18th. Senior Erica Conrad (Ashwaubenon, Wis.) and junior Cambrie Kowal (Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.) are the only two athletes set to race with Regional Championship experience, and they will look to improve upon their times from last year's race which took place on the same course. In last year's race, Conrad (23:33.7) and Kowal (23:26.9) both set their lifetime personal bests in the 6k.
The 2023 NCAA Central Region Championships are hosted by Missouri Southern State. The top three teams at the Regional Championships and an additional 10 at-large bids from across the country will advance to the NCAA Championships. Individually, the top two racers who are not members of an advancing team will earn a berth in the NCAA Finals along with any other non-advancing team member who finishes in the top five. Another eight athletes will be selected at-large from across the country.
