
Sanni Ahola Named Goaltender and Performer of the Week

The awards come after stopping 46 of 47 shots faced in victory over No. 1 Ohio State
BLOOMINGTON, MINN. – It has just been announced that senior goaltender Sanni Ahola has been named the Howies Hockey Tape Performer of the Week and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Player of the Week for the week of December 2.
On Friday night in game one of the two-game series against No. 1 Ohio State, Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) stopped 46 of 47 shots faced. With her incredible play in net, the Huskies were able to take down the top-ranked team in the nation 2-1. This was the first time since 2017 that St. Cloud State has come out on top when facing off against the Buckeyes.
With her win on Friday, Ahola improves to 7-1-0 on the season. She has stopped 170 of 176 shots faced across eight games for the Huskies this season. Ahola improves to a .755 goals against average, a .966 save percentage, and has posted five shutouts this season.
This is the third time in her collegiate career that Ahola has been awarded the WCHA Goaltender of the Week award and the first time in her career to receive the Howies Hockey Tape Performer of the Week award.
