Huskies earn the sixth spot in north earning a playoff berth
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State men's basketball team closed their regular season in fashion as they sank Minnesota Crookston 90-64 at Halenbeck Hall Saturday afternoon. The Huskies shot .516 from the field and from behind the arc. Six Huskies scored in the double-digit marks.
GAME SUMMARY
The Huskies set the pace of the game right out of the gate. St. Cloud defense stalled Minnesota Crookston's offense as the Eagles were held to just three points for six minutes. At 14:28, Kevin Cook sank a layup off a turnover to put the Huskies up 19-3. SCSU increased their lead to 20 after Andre Renta drained a three at 6:11 to put the Huskies up 36-16. St. Cloud defense would only give up nine more points as the Huskies entered the locker with a 25 point lead, 49-24, over UMC. St. Cloud shot .581 from the field and .500 from behind the arc as the defense held UMC to just a .250 from the field.
In the second half, the Huskies continued their pursuit. Dominic Aguilar increased the Huskies lead by 40 after he sank a shot behind the arc to put the Huskies up 73-33. At 7:08, St. Cloud would be held scoreless for three minutes but it wouldn't deter the Huskies as they led by 35, 88-53, with 4:20 left in the second half. The point deficit was too much for UMC to compete with as St. Cloud ended their regular season with a 90-64 victory.

After their win today and a UMary loss, the Huskies have made the playoffs as the sixth seed in the north. St. Cloud will travel to take on Sioux Falls Feb. 22 who is the number three seed in the south.
