Krannila becomes 37th member of SCSU’s 100-point club
ST CLOUD, Minn. – For the second straight night, No. 5 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (18-8-2, 10-6-2 NCHC) and Miami (7-17-4, 2-13-3 NCHC) played to a tie at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. After finishing regulation and overtime knotted at 1-1, the Huskies prevailed in the shootout once again to earn the extra point in the conference standings. Senior forward Jami Krannila (Nokia, Finland) and senior forward Micah Miller (Grand Rapids, Minn.) scored shootout goals while junior goalie Dominic Basse (Alexandria, Va.) stopped both RedHawk attempts to seal the shootout victory.
Krannila scored the Huskies lone goal in regulation in the first period to record his 100th career point, becoming the 37th member of SCSU's 100-point club.
TURNING POINT
The Huskies rode the hot goaltender hand of Basse throughout the entire game, but his shutout attempt fell just short when Miami's John Waldron scored with 35 seconds remaining while an extra attacker was on the ice. The Husky netminder had made 21 saves ahead of the RedHawk goal to tie the score late.
Miami led the shots on goal in the overtime period, 7-2, thanks to a power play opportunity stemming from a SCSU penalty, but the Huskies killed off the penalty to help force the game to a shootout.
