Clark becomes 70th Husky NHL draft pick since 1986
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey incoming freshman Warren Clark (Riverside, Ontario) was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth round (179th overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft on Thursday in Nashville. Clark is the 70th Husky to be selected since the inauguration of the NHL Draft in 1986.
He is the second Husky to be drafted by the Lightning, joining Nick Perbix, who was drafted in the sixth round in 2017 (169th overall).
Clark, a 6-foot-3 righty defenseman, spent the 2022-23 season with the Steinbach Pistons of the MJHL, where he scored six goals and 32 assists for 38 points in 55 games. He also played for the Chatham Maroons of the GOJHL and the South Shore Kings of the NCDC in 2021-22.
Clark's draft selection gives the Huskies five NHL draft picks on its current roster, as he joins Dominic Basse (Chicago / 2019 sixth round), Veeti Miettinen (Toronto / 2020 sixth round), Jack Peart (Minnesota / 2021 second round) and Adam Ingram (Nashville / 2022 third round).
