
No. 6 St. Cloud State Wrestling Hosts Minnesota State

The Huskies and Mavericks will wrestle at 7:00 p.m. CT on Thursday at Halenbeck Hall
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 6 St. Cloud State Wrestling (8-1, 3-0 NSIC) is set for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) dual at home against Minnesota State Mankato on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 7:00 p.m. CT. The dual will serve as SCSU's Salute to Service Night with all service members receiving free admission to the dual.

SCSU SHUTS OUT SIOUX FALLS
The Huskies recorded eight bonus point victories and won all 10 matches in a 49-0 win over Sioux Falls (1-5, 0-3 NSIC) on Jan. 14 at the Stewart Center in Sioux Falls. The Huskies recorded four falls, three technical falls and a major decision in the victory to improve to 3-0 in NSIC matches. The bout was the first-ever match between the two programs as this is Sioux Falls' first season of competition. The 49-0 win was the most points scored in a dual since the Huskies beat American International, 54-0 on Nov. 9, 2019 and the most in a conference dual since a 50-0 win over Minot State on Jan. 29, 2016.
HUSKIES FINISH THIRD AT NWCA NATIONAL DUALS
In its last time out, St. Cloud State went 3-1 at the 2024 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division-II National Duals in Cedar Falls to finish in third place. The Huskies defeated (RV) Newberry (28-9) and No. 15 Mary (26-9) before falling to No. 1 Central Oklahoma (24-10) in the semifinal match. In the third place bout, SCSU rebounded to beat No. 3 Lander, 24-16.
With the third-place finish, the Huskies have now finished in the top-three at the NWCA National Duals for the 13th consecutive tournament dating back to 2011 (no tournament in 2021 due to pandemic). Since 2011, the Huskies have finished first seven times (2012, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2023), second twice (2016, 2022) and third now four times (2011, 2014, 2015, 2024).
NWCA RANKINGS
The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) release its third Division-II Men's Coaches Poll on Dec. 22, with the Huskies checking in at No. 6 with 49 points. Central Oklahoma and West Liberty shared the No. 1 spot with 69 points each, while Lander checked in at No. 3 (59 points), with UW-Parkside (51 points) and Lake Erie (50 points) at No. 4 and 5, respectively.
