Gentry, Lind score for Huskies
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The St. Cloud State Women's Hockey Team (15-10-1, 10-9-1 WCHA) was taken down by No. 1 Ohio State (22-2-0, 19-1-0 WCHA) on Saturday as the Buckeyes sweep the Huskies.
For the second straight game, senior forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) would start out scoring for the Huskies. Gentry capitalized on a turnover in the offensive zone to score an unassisted goal.
Following Gentry's third goal of the series, Ohio State would score three goals. The Buckeyes were able to score one goal in each period in Saturday's victory.
Senior captain Taylor Lind (Shaunavon, Saskatchewan) found the back of the net with under a minute of play in the third period. Lind's goal came on the power play as Buckeye Jenn Gardiner would get called for tripping.
The Huskies' special teams tallied one power play goal and went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. St. Cloud State allowed Ohio State just five power play shots on three attempts. The Huskies' power play units combined for four total shots, one of them resulting in Taylor Lind's goal.
The last time the Buckeyes allowed four goals in a series was back on December 1 and 2 at home, also against the Huskies.
