The Huskies would maintain their 1-0 lead until the 8:35 mark of the second frame when the Badgers were able to strike back to tie the game at one a piece.
REGULATION WAS NOT ENOUGH
Following Badger Maddi Wheeler's goal just under the halfway mark of the middle period, neither team would capitalize. St. Cloud State would go 2-for-2 on the penalty kill as Dayle Ross would get called for body checking in the second and tripping in the third. The Badgers were able to tally eight combined shots on their power play attempts but none were able to beat netminder Jojo Chobak (Chicago, Ill.) making them unsuccessful attempts
With the score tied at 1-1, the Badgers and the Huskies would head to overtime. The Huskies had trouble getting out of the defensive zone, and Wisconsin was able to capitalize at the 2:47 mark of overtime. St. Cloud State picked up one point in the overtime loss in game one

The team went 38-34 in the faceoff circle with Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) leading the charge. Gentry went 17-7 on the dot for a 70.83 percent. Avery Farrell (Rogers, Minn.) also found success in the faceoff circle, going 7-3 or 70 percent. Going into the series versus St. Cloud State, the Badgers were 58.50 percent on the dot. The Huskies held them to 47.22 percent in game one of the series.
PUCK STOPPER
