St. Cloud State Cross Country Heads to Wisconsin to Wrap Up Regular Season

Huskies to run in 30th running of the Tori Neubauer Invitational in West Salem, Wis. on Saturday at 11 a.m.
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Cross Country is set to compete in its final regular season meet of the 2024 season. The Huskies travel to the Maple Grove Venues in West Salem, Wis. for the 30th running of the Tori Neubauer Invitational, hosted by UW-La Crosse. The 6,000-meter race will begin at 11 a.m.

St. Cloud State Cross Country ran to a second-place team finish at its annual Bob Waxlax Invitational at Wapicada Golf Club in Sauk Rapids on Wednesday, Oct. 9. It was the first ever 4,000-meter collegiate race for all nine Huskies.
On their senior night, Greta Freed (Rochester, Minn.) and Cambrie Kowal (Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.) were the first two Huskies across the finish line and the only two that placed in the top-10. Freed was fourth in 14:53.3 and Kowal was seventh in 14:55.7.
Five more Huskies placed in the top-20 with sophomores Alena Donahue (West Salem, Wis.) and Paige Beason (Ankeny, Iowa) finishing 11th and 12th in 15:28.9 and 15:33.0 respectively. Freshman MerriAnna Johnson (Osceola, Wis,) finished the 4K race in 15:40.20 to place 14th, sophomore Tegan Michalak (Arcadia, Wis.) ran 15:46.9 to finish 16th and freshman Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) was 20th in 15:53.7.
Sophomore Audrey Rabitz (Manitowoc, Wis.) finished her first collegiate cross country race in 16:48.9 and sophomore Mady Muehr (Greendale, Wis.) ran 17:58.3.

SEASON PREVIEW
St. Cloud State was selected to finish 14th in the 2024 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Coaches' Poll. Additionally, senior Cambrie Kowal (Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.) has been named an NSIC Athlete to Watch.
"I am excited for both the leadership and growing talent within this group," said second-year head coach Gabrielle Brown, "They are a predominately young group of individuals who are back and ready for more. The leaders of this team compliment the talents, vision, and efforts needed to make incremental change."
The Huskies roster is comprised of two seniors – Greta Freed (Rochester, Minn.) and Kowal, one junior – Hannah Little (Grimes, Iowa), five sophomores – Paige Beason (Ankeny, Iowa), Alena Donahue (West Salem, Wis.), Tegan Michalak (Arcadia, Wis.), Mady Muehr (Greendale, Wis.) and Audrey Rabitz (Manitowoc, Wis.) and two freshmen – MerriAnna Johnson (Osceola, Wis.) and Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.).
"This past season Cam [Kowal] was one of the athletes who realized just how much she was capable of," said Brown, "I am excited to see her step up fully and confidently into the amazing athlete that she is. She will be foundational for the growth needed to move us forward."
