St. Cloud, Minn.- St. Cloud State Men's Basketball Head Coach Quincy Henderson announced the addition of Azayah Washington to the program on Friday.
A native of St. Cloud, Washington will be attending St. Cloud State in the fall of 2025 following his senior year at Apollo High School. As a junior, Washington averaged 33.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists for the Eagles. He was awarded All-Conference honors in the Central Lakes Conference a season ago. Washington played on the Adidas circuit this past summer with a very talented D1 Minnesota team.
"Azayah is a hometown player that we have had an opportunity to follow very closely over the past few years," said Henderson. "He has shown continuous improvement throughout, leading to his exceptional play in the talented Central Lakes Conference. His ability to make shots and create off the dribble will translate well to the college level. His work ethic and love of the game are two of his strongest qualities, and I look forward to watching him lead Apollo High this season."
Apollo Head Coach Deon Pierce on Washington
"From the moment I started coaching Azayah Washington and saw him step onto the court, it was clear he had a special talent. His unwavering work ethic and passion for the game have made him the player he is today. I'm very proud of his accomplishments and can't wait to see what he achieves at St. Cloud State!"
