
No. 1 St. Cloud State Wrestling Captures Two Titles at Dragon Open

Huskies place 21 Wrestlers
Moorhead, Min.- No. 1 St. Cloud State Wrestling competed in the Dragon Open Saturday morning as they traveled to Moorhead, Minn. The Huskies earned two titles while placing 21 total wrestlers.
In 125 White Division, Austin Grzywinski and Leo Edblad each reached the championship round. Grzywinski reached the championship round after earning a 20-5 tech fall against Gabriel Michel of Northland Community & Technical College and then a 6-2 decision victory over Brandon Board of Augustana. Edblad pinned Gavin Lambert of Southwest Minnesota State at the 5:28 mark and then captured a 16-0 tech fall against Xavier Jones of St. John's. The two would meet up in the first place match where they did not wrestle each other.
In the 157 White Division, Patrick Kubisa captured two bonus point victories on his way to a title. In Round 1, Kubisa picked up a 15-0 tech fall against Ayden Flanagan and followed that up with an 8-5 decision against Nathan Berchtold in the quarterfinals. Kubisa advanced to the championship round after a 16-5 major decision against Colten Gundersen and then took home the title with a 12-6 decision against Tate Condezo.
In the 165 White Division, Augustus Donovan and Brody Hart each reached the championship round. Donovan won his two bouts on the day, both by decision, with a 9-5 win against Bryan Arevalo and then a 12-8 decision against Damon Ferguson. Hart used two bonus point victories on his way to the title. In the opening round, Hart won 16-2 by major decision against Laiken Copeman. He followed that up by pinning Jesiah Townsell in 59 seconds. He reached the finals with a 17-2 tech fall against Tate Laducer. Donovan would win by no contest in the championship round over Hart.
13 wrestlers placed in the Red Division including Dominic Ducato (2nd, 125), Jayce Luna (4th, 141), Aoci Bernard (6th 141), Brandon Eusebio (4th, 141), David Platt (4th, 149), Ethan Hendrickson (4th, 157), Colton Bornholdt (4th, 157), Gabirel Smith (6th, 165), Logan Vaughan (2nd 174), Cole Glazier (3rd, 174), Nathan Fury (4th, 197), Jadon Mims (4th, 285), and Donnie Hidden (5th 285).
Three other wrestlers placed in the White Division including Hudson Burnett (3rd, 141), Jeroen Smith (3rd, 157), and Dominic Mann (2nd, 174).
