PICKING UP RIGHT WHERE THEY LEFT OFF
SCSU's two leading scorers from a season ago – sophomore Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) and junior Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) picked up right where they left off in 2023, leading the Huskies to a 2-1 victory over Northern Michigan on Sept. 7. Primerano buried a goal in the 26th minute off an assist from senior forward Krysten Schuster (Beamsville, Ontario), while Trapino doubled SCSU's lead in the second half off a beauty 25-yard free kick. Trapino's score was her eighth career goal and fifth career game-winning goal, a mark which ranks ninth in program history after just 23 games. Primerano netted her fifth career score to move her career total to 21 points as she looks to become the 22nd athlete in program history to score 25 career points.
In 2023, the duo led the Huskies in scoring, as Trapino scored seven goals and three assists for 17 points in her NSIC Freshman of the Year campaign, while Primerano scored four goals and eight assists for 18 points in her sophomore season.
NSIC PRESEASON POLL
