St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Secures Win in First Road Match of 2024

Two freshmen score first career goals as Huskies blank Roosevelt (Ill.), 2-0
CHICAGO – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (2-1-0, 0-0-0 NSIC) shut out Roosevelt (0-1-2, 0-0-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), 2-0 in its first road match of the season on Friday afternoon at Morris Field in Chicago. The Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute before doubling its lead in the 58th minute.
TURNING POINT
Freshman forward Gabby Hofeld (St. Paul, Minn.) scored in the 37th minute off an assist from sophomore forward Zoey Fanter (Norwalk, Iowa) for the first goal of the game before freshman midfielder Darby Allen (Minnetonka, Minn.) sent the SCSU lead to 2-0.

- The Huskies posted more shots (19-3) and shots on goal (9-0) than Roosevelt.
- Freshman midfielder Jordan Kardelis (Muskego, Wis.), freshman forward Delaney Weier (Madison, Wis.) and freshman defender Reese Zediker (Caledonia, Ill.) all made their collegiate debuts, playing 40, nine and 12 minutes respectively.
- Sophomore forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) led the game with five shots (three on goal).
- Senior forward Krysten Schuster (Beamsville, Ontario) and junior forward Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) each recorded three shots.
