SERIES HISTORY
All-time, the Huskies are 14-19-8 against the Bulldogs and 9-13-3 against the Beavers.
SCSU has dominated the all-time series with UMD over the last several seasons as the Huskies have won the last eight matchups dating back to the 2018 season. The two teams met three times last season with the Huskies taking a 2-0 road win on Sept. 8 before home wins on Sept. 15 (2-1) and Nov. 6 (1-0). In the eight-game winning streak, the Huskies have outscored the Bulldogs, 18-4, with four shutouts. UMD has not scored more than one goal in any of those eight setbacks. SCSU's last loss against UMD came on Sept. 12, 2017, a 1-0 setback in Duluth.
The Huskies will look to avenge last season's tough luck against the Beavers this weekend, as Bemidji State went 3-0 against the Huskies in 2023. First, BSU took a 2-0 win on Sept. 17 in Bemidji before back-to-back wins in seven days in the NSIC and NCAA Tournaments, winning 2-0 in St. Cloud on Nov. 10 and 1-0 in Emporia, Kan., on Nov. 17.
DROPPING DIMES
Senior forward Krysten Schuster (Beamsville, Ontario) has recorded an assist in three consecutive games for the Huskies, helping the Huskies clinch victories in each contest. Her secondary helper in SCSU's 1-0 victory over UW-Parkside (Sept. 15) came on the game-winning goal. Schuster's three assists have already set a new career high, surpassing her mark of two assists in 2023.
ORHAM EXCELS IN WEEKEND SWEEP
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Meriel Orham (St. Michael, Minn.) has made the most of her opportunity in the net for the Huskies early on in the season, recording a 3-1-0 mark through the first four games of the season. She recorded the first two shutouts of her career in SCSU's wins over Roosevelt (Sept. 13, 2-0) and UW-Parkside (Sept. 15, 1-0), as she played the full 90 minutes in both contests and made three saves against Parkside.
PICKING UP RIGHT WHERE THEY LEFT OFF
SCSU's two leading scorers from a season ago – sophomore Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) and junior Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.), – picked up right where they left off in 2023, finding the back of the net early on in the season for the Huskies. In SCSU's 2-1 victory over Northern Michigan on Sept. 7, Primerano buried a goal in the 26th minute off an assist from senior forward Krysten Schuster (Beamsville, Ontario), while Trapino doubled SCSU's lead in the second half off a beauty 25-yard free kick. Primerano once again found the back of the net to lift the Huskies to victory over Uw-Parkside on Sept. 15.
Trapino's score was her eighth career goal and fifth career game-winning goal, a mark which ranks ninth in program history after just 23 games. Primerano netted her fifth and sixth career scores to move her career total to 23 points as she looks to become the 22nd athlete in program history to score 25 career points. In 2023, the duo led the Huskies in scoring, as Trapino scored seven goals and three assists for 17 points in her NSIC Freshman of the Year campaign, while Primerano scored four goals and eight assists for 18 points in her sophomore season.
NSIC PRESEASON POLL
