
St. Cloud State Athletics Names Wolters Kluwer Athletes of the Month for September

Andrés García (Men’s Soccer) and Braya LaPlant (Volleyball) honored for their September play
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Athletics recognized two student-athletes as the Wolters Kluwer Athletes of the Month for September. Men's Soccer fifth year forward Andrés García (Austin, Minn.) was named Male Athlete of the Month while Volleyball sophomore setter Braya LaPlant (Grand Rapids, Minn.) was named Female Athlete of the Month for their performances during the month.

- 1x Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 8).
- Led the team in scoring with eight points from four goals.
- Scored two game-winning goals in the month with one against Upper Iowa in the Huskies 3-1 season opening win and the other coming against Davenport in the Huskies 1-0 conference opening win.
- Appeared in all seven games, while making six starts.
- Logged 398 minutes with 14 shots and 10 shots on goal.
- Ranks first in the GLIAC in game-winning goals, second in goals, third in points, and third in shots on goal.
- Helped SCSU open the season 3-3-1 with a 1-1 mark in conference play.
- 1x Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Setter of the Week (Sept. 29) – first weekly conference award of her career.
- Averaged 10.85 assists, 2.10 digs, 1.06 points, 0.56 kills, 0.49 assists and 0.23 service aces per set during the month.
- Recorded her first three career double-doubles while posting single match career highs in assists (73), digs (17), blocks (six), block assists (six), kills (five), aces (five) and solo blocks (one).
- Her 73 assists were the most among all NSIC setters during the month by seven, her 48 assists in a three-set match were the second most and her five service aces in a match were tied for the fourth most.
- Guided the Huskies to the No. 1 mark for kills/set among NSIC teams (14.86) and the No. 4 hitting percentage (.276). Among all DII teams, the Huskies rank third in kills/set and 10th in hitting percentage.
- Ranks No. 12 in assists/set (10.85) and No. 30 in assists (973) among all Division II players. Among NSIC players, she ranks sixth in assists/set and seventh in total assists.
- Helped SCSU open the 2025 season with a 10-3 record including a perfect 5-0 start to NSIC play.
