Huskies men finish first, women second with 14 event victories and 38 top-three finishes

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The St. Cloud State Swim & Dive enjoyed a very impressive performance at the SCSU Quad in Rochester, Minn., and La Crosse, Wis., on Oct. 11 with the men's team finishing first out of three teams with 800 points and the women's team finishing second with 702 points. The men's team earned event wins in 11 events and top-three finishes in 25 events overall, while the women's team earned event wins in there events with 13 top-three finishes.

For the men, junior Piotr Kowalczyk (Warsaw, Poland) and junior Reid Tigges (Spencer, Iowa) each earned three event wins on the day to lead the way. Kowalczyk won the 100-yard backstroke at 50.95 and Tigges won the 50-yard freestyle at 20.66. In addition to the individual event wins, the duo both swam legs that won the 200-yard medley at 1:31.37 the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:22.57. Sophomore Marcus Walker (Santa Clarita, Calif.) and junior Lance Godard (Lee's Summit, Mo.) also won the 100-yard breaststroke at 57.20 and the 200-yard IM at 1:55.64, respectively. Walker and Godard also swam legs on the relay team that won the 200-yard medley relay.

Three women took home event wins on the day, led by NSIC Swimmer to Watch sophomore Hallie Drossel (Melrose, Minn.), who won the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:07.15. Freshman Low EE Mang (Selanger, Malaysia) won the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:29.21 while senior Izzy Koebele (Bismarck, N.D.) won the 500-yard freestyle at 5:18.06.
