LaPlant Named NSIC Setter of the Week

Sophomore setter led NSIC in assists/set to earn second weekly conference award of 2025
BURNSVILLE, Minn. – St. Cloud State Volleyball sophomore setter Braya LaPlant (Grand Rapids, Minn.) was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Setter of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. It is LaPlant's second weekly honor of the season and of her career. She is the only Husky to earn a weekly award this season.
LaPlant's best performance came in the Huskies five-set win over No. 22 Northern State Friday, when she recorded a 58-assist, 11-dig double-double with four aces, three kills, three block assists and two solo blocks. It was her sixth double-double of the season and first since Oct. 11 and her two solo blocks were a new single-match career high. Additionally, the Grand Rapids, Minnesota native dished out 41 assists in SCSU's sweep of No. 23 Minnesota State on Tuesday which were the second most of any three-set match this season for the Huskies.
SCSU went 3-0 during its Homecoming week, sweeping No. 23 Minnesota State and Jamestown and defeating No. 22 Northern State in a five-setter.
As of October 26, LaPlant ranks No. 7 in assists/set (11.36) and No. 16 in assists (829) among all Division II players. Among NSIC players, she ranks fourth in assists/set and fifth in total assists.
The Huskies hit the road for a pair of matches in North Dakota next weekend. SCSU travels to play UMary (6-16, 3-11 NSIC) at 6 p.m. on Friday at the McDowell Activity Center in Bismarck and Minot State (3-20, 1-13 NSIC) at noon on Saturday at the Minot State Dome in Minot. LaPlant helped guide the SCSU offense to 15.36 kills/set which ranked No. 2 in the conference and a .294 team hitting percentage which was fourth best in the NSIC.
