However, the Huskies have a win in the most recent matchup, a 2-1 win on Sept. 22 last season in St. Cloud. Senior forward Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) scored the game-winning goal in the game in the 66th minute, solidifying the win for the Huskies.
Against Duluth, SCSU is 15-19-6, but the Huskies are currently on a nine-game winning streak against the Bulldogs dating back to Sept. 9, 2018. Last season, Primerano and junior forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) both scored for the Huskies in a 2-1 win in Duluth on Sept. 20.
STRICKLAND NAMED NSIC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Redshirt sophomore Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) was named the NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week after posting six saves in shutouts against Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State while SCSU matched a program record for consecutive saves. Her NSIC weekly honor is the first time in her career she has been named the NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week.
Strickland made three saves each against Sioux Falls (0-0, Oct. 3) and Southwest Minnesota State (2-0, Oct. 5) to record her fifth and sixth shutouts of the season. The blank sheets give SCSU five straight shutouts, which matches a program record for most consecutive shutouts, pulling even with the five consecutive shutout victories from Nov. 1 – Nov. 13, 2019. Strickland and the Huskies have now held their opponents scoreless for 481 consecutive minutes. The win also pushes SCSU's unbeaten streak to nine to start the 2025 campaign, extending its program-record best start to a season.
Strickland's six shutouts this season gives her 14th career blank sheets as she moves into fifth place in program history in career shutouts, surpassing Evie Kohn (13, 2019-22). Among NSIC leaders this season, Strickland ranks second in shutouts (six), goals-against average (0.35) and save percentage (.912).
PROGRAM RECORDS START TO FALL
With its 1-0 win over UMary on Sept. 21, SCSU pushed its unbeaten streak to a program-high five games to start the season, surpassing its previous best start of 3-0-1 in 2002. SCSU has now extended that unbeaten streak to nine games, far surpassing its previous best record of staying undefeated to start a season. With two more wins or draws, SCSU could match its longest unbeaten streak ever, which currently sits at 11 from Sept. 29 – Nov. 7, 2024.
SCSU currently has five straight shutouts, which matches a program record for most consecutive shutouts, pulling even with the five consecutive shutout victories from Nov. 1 – Nov. 13, 2019. The Huskies have held their opponents scoreless for 481 consecutive minutes.
A balanced attack offensively and defensively has helped SCSU jump out to the fast start, with the Huskies ranking in the top five of the NSIC in most statistical categories as a team, including second in goals against average (0.33), second in save percentage (.914), third in assists (16), third in points (46) and fifth in goals (15). Among individual leaders, senior midfielder Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.) leads the NSIC in assist with four while junior midfielder Grace Olson (West Des Moines, Iowa) ranks fifth with three. She is just the second Husky in program history to have multiple games with three or more assists, joining Kim Corbin who did it four times. Quam leads the NSIC in assists with four. Her 18 career assists rank third all-time in program history while her 28 career points rank 21st all-time.
