
St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Closes Regular Season with No. 2 Minnesota State

Huskies will travel to face Minnesota State on Thursday in Mankato
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (12-1-4, 10-1-3 NSIC) will close the regular season with a road trip to No. 2 Minnesota State (15-0-2, 13-0-1 NSIC) on Thursday, Nov. 6 in Mankato. Seeding for the upcoming NSIC Tournament will be decided afterwards with the Mavericks already clinching the NSIC regular season championship with 40 points and the Huskies tied at second with Bemidji State with matching 10-1-3 marks (33 points).

SERIES HISTORY
SCSU heads into the weekend with an 8-27-4 mark all-time against the Mavericks. The Huskies are 0-3-2 in its last five against Minnesota State and last beat Minnesota State on Sept. 29, 2019, a 2-1 win in Mankato.
Last season, the Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the NCAA Tournament game played on Nov. 22, 2024 before the Mavericks scored twice in the second half to win, 2-1.
MACDONALD GETS 100
Head coach Gretta Macdonald reached a career milestone when she earned her 100th career victory in a 4-1 win over Wayne State on Oct. 31. In her 12th season as head coach (no season in 2020 due to pandemic), Macdonald is already the program's longest tenured and winningest coach at 101-80-35 (.572). She helped the Huskies capture its first-ever conference championship in 2023 when the team won the NSIC Regular Season championship, and she has led the program to its first two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024. Her teams have 10 program records, including most victories (14, 2023), best winning percentage (.714, 2023), most conference wins (10, 2023) most shutouts (nine, 2025), and fewest goals allowed (15, 2024).
PLAYOFF RACE HEATING UP
With one game left of the regular season remaining, the race for positioning in the NSIC standings is nearly finished. St. Cloud State is currently in a tie for second place with Bemidji State (10-1-3 in NSIC) at 33 points. Minnesota State is in first place with 40 points (13-0-1 NSIC) while Minot State is in fourth place with 28 points (8-2-4 NSIC).
On the final night of the regular season, Bemidji State will host Minnesota Duluth while Minot State will host UMary.
In the eight-team NSIC Tournament, the top four seeds will host the quarterfinal round matchups, with the winners advancing to the semifinal and championship rounds. 25-POINT CLUB ADDITIONS
For the first time in program history, St. Cloud State Women's Soccer has four current student athletes with 25 career points. Two Huskies, senior midfielder Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.) and junior midfielder Grace Olson (West Des Moines, Iowa), reached the 25-point club this season, joining senior Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) and junior forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) who reached the milestone last season.
Quam reached 25 points in SCSU's 1-0 win over Michigan Tech on Sept. 7 and then recorded three assists in a 5-0 win over UW-Parkside on Sept. 12 to match a career-high for assists in a game. She is just the second Husky in program history to have multiple games with three or more assists, joining Kim Corbin who did it four times. Quam currently leads the NSIC in assists with seven. Her 21 career assists rank second all-time while her 35 career points rank 14th.
Olson is the latest to join the 25-point club with an assist in a 2-1 win over Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 12, becoming the 25th Husky in program history to reach the mark. Olson has scored 2+ goals and 2+ assists in each of her three seasons as a Husky, including a 12-point (4g/4a) performance so far this season.
Primerano and Trapino continue to work their way up the all-time scoring list for the Huskies. Primerano currently ranks sixth with 52 points (17g/18a) while Trapino ranks ninth with 46 points (18g/10a).
STRICKLAND STRICT IN NET
Redshirt sophomore Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) has been elite in net for the Huskies this season as she continues to build on an impressive campaign that will be remembered in the record book. The 2023 All-NSIC second team selection has produced an 12-1-4 mark in net with a 0.60 GAA, .831 S% and eight shutouts while earning her first career NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week honor on Oct. 6.
Among NSIC leaders this season, Strickland ranks second in shutouts (eight), third in GAA (0.60) and third in S% (.831). Among program records for a single season, Stickland's marks currently rank first in GA, third in shutouts and eight in S%. Among career records, she already ranks third in wins (23) and second in shutouts (16).
BALANCED ATTACK
The race for team point-lead this season is a tight race, with junior forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) and senior forward Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) tied at 16 points. Junior midfielder Grace Olson (West Des Moines, Iowa) and senior midfielder Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.) have also reach double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Quam leads the NSIC in assists with seven while Primerano and Trapino's six goals both rank in the top-10.
As a team the Huskies ranking in the top five of the NSIC in most statistical categories as a team, including second in assists (29), third in goals against average (0.60), third in save percentage (.833), fifth in points (91) and fifth in goals (31).
