Huskies take down BSU in four sets for eighth consecutive NSIC win
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 10 St. Cloud State Volleyball (21-6, 16-2 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) earned its eighth straight conference victory with a four-set win over Bemidji State (7-19, 4-14 NSIC) on Senior Day at Halenbeck Hall Saturday afternoon. The Huskies earned the four-set win, 25-15, 25-15, 20-25, 27-25. The win was No. 200 at SCSU for head coach Chad Braegelmann.
"It was a very solid first two sets for us as we controlled the match at the net, and in serving and passing. We got tight in the middle of the third set, Bemidji did a great job serving deep, and we ended up being off the net for quite a few balls. Then we got a little hesitant with our attacking and Bemidji really stepped up their defensive effort in sets three and four, limiting us to about a .125 hitting percentage in those two sets. During that stretch they were much better offensively, being aggressive which led to them scoring at a higher rate. But when our backs were really against the wall late in the fourth set, we made a few plays that we needed to. We had a nice little run to tie it back up at 23, and then there was some pretty intense back-and-forth play, and we just were able to come out on top. I am very happy with our serving again today. Our block was solid for the most part, but we have to be more consistent throughout the match and do a little better job making adjustments to their attackers. At this time, we are 16-2 in conference play, which is pretty impressive overall in the Northern Sun Conference."
