No. 1 Huskies Capture Two Titles at Don Parker Open

St. Cloud State places 12 wrestlers
St. Cloud, Minn.- No. 1 St. Cloud State Wrestling competed in the Don Parker Open this morning. The Huskies amassed two titles with 12 total wrestlers placing in the event.
At 133, Caleb Meekins had a dominant outing on his way to a title. After pinning Ethan Agnew in 1:28, he tallied consecutive tech fall victories to reach the championship round. Wrestling against Mikey Tortorice, Meekins would pin him in 1:57 to earn the title.
At 174, Jimmy Pierandozzi captured the second title for the Huskies. Pierandozzi got his day started by pinning Mason Seidle in 1:15 to advance to the quarterfinals. He would then advance to the finals after a14-2 major decision and then a medical forfeit win. In the championship round, Pierandozzi came up with a clutch takedown against Owen Wasley to win 4-1 in sudden victory.
Derek Johnson, Tyson Meyer, and Nathan Fury would all reach the championship round in their respective weight classes, but would all be defeated to take second.
The remaining Huskies to place in the event include Austin Grzywinski (4th at 125), Vance Barz (5th at 149), Patrick Kubisa (4th at 157), Jude Link (4th at 165), Brody Hart (4th at 165), James Burks (5th at 174), and Brendan Lockart (3rd at 197).
