Gibby Chapman Named NSIC Player of the Week Following Undefeated Week

Chapman went 6-0 across singles and doubles in Florida
Burnsville, Minn.- Freshman Gibby Chapman was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.

Chapman went 6-0 across singles and doubles in the Huskies spring break trip to Florida. Teaming with Lara-Maria Schaefer in the No. 2 doubles spot, Chapman went 3-0 on the week with a 6-3 win against California (Pa.), a 6-4 win against Cedarville, and a 6-2 win against Concordia College. Chapman has won five consecutive doubles matches and sits at 5-2 on the season with a 4-0 record when paired with Schaefer.
In singles play, Chapman also went 3-0 with two straight set victories. Against California (Pa.), she came away with a third set victory as she beat Anika Hendrich 6-2, 5-7, 10-4. Against Cedarville, Chapman notched a 6-1, 6-3 win over Molly Filpus. In St. Cloud State's 5-2 win against Concordia College, the freshman clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Chapman is 6-1 in singles play with four straight set victories. She has also won five consecutive matches.
