Huskies opening weekend set for Sept. 19-20 at home, nonconference slate includes trip to Washington D.C. and series against Lindenwood and at UConn
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey released its complete 2025-26 schedule on Friday, adding two series and one in-season event with nonconference opponents to its schedule. One opponent, Lindenwood (Mo.), is a return opponent from last season, while UConn has been added to the schedule for the upcoming season. Additionally, the Huskies will travel to Washington, D.C. to play Colgate (N.Y.) and Clarkson (N.Y.) in the 2025 D1 in DC event. The schedule features 34 regular games and one exhibition, including 17 home contests (eight series and one exhibition) at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
For the seventh consecutive season (excluding 2020-21, when only conference teams were played), St. Cloud State will play a series against Lindenwood. It will mark the second straight season that the Huskies open their schedule against the Lions, who will make the trip up to St. Cloud (Sept. 19-20) after the teams opened the 2024-25 season at Lindenwood. The following week (Sept. 26-27), the Huskies travel to Storrs, Connecticut to play UConn for the first time since 2018.
In late November, SCSU will play in the fifth iteration of the D1 in DC event in Washington, D.C. The Huskies will play Colgate (Nov. 28) and Clarkson (Nov. 29) at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex, the practice arena of the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals.
In all, the Huskies will play 16 regular season games inside the Brooks Center, with WCHA series against St. Thomas (Oct. 17-18), Minnesota Duluth (Oct. 31 - Nov. 1), Wisconsin (Nov. 14-15), Ohio State (Jan. 9-10), Minnesota State (Feb. 6-7) and Bemidji State (Feb. 13-14) and home-and-home games against Minnesota (Oct. 11 and Jan. 23) already announced.
Following the regular season, the WCHA Tournament will begin with all eight league teams advancing to the First Round, with seeding set by the regular season standings. The top four seeds each host a best-of-three quarterfinal series the weekend of Feb. 27-March 1, and the four winners will advance to meet at the WCHA Final Faceoff on March 5-7 at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena on the campus of St. Thomas in St. Paul.
Eight teams that account for 22 of the Huskies' 34 regular season tilts, feature an opponent that closed the 2024-25 season in the final United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) / USA Hockey National polls – Wisconsin (No. 1), Ohio State (No. 2), Minnesota (No. 4), Colgate (No. 5), Minnesota Duluth (No. 6), Clarkson (No. 9/8), UConn (No. 13) and Minnesota State (NR/RV), while SCSU finished ranked No. 12, its second best final ranking in program history. In addition, six of those teams made the NCAA Tournament.
