Huskies set for Suzy Wilson Maroon Race at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Minneapolis on Friday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Cross Country continues its 2025 season with its first 6k of the season at the 39th Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by Minnesota on Friday afternoon. The Huskies are set to compete in the Suzy Wilson Women's Maroon Race, which will feature runners from Division II & III schools at 12:15 p.m. at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Minneapolis.

St. Cloud State Cross Country opened its 2025 season at the Toni St. Pierre Invitational hosted by Saint Benedict on September 5 at River Oaks Golf Club in Cold Spring.
Senior Hannah Little (Grimes, Iowa) raced to a new 5k cross country personal best on senior night (20:46.6), cutting 14 seconds off her previous best set in last year's season opener. Sophomore MerriAnna Johnson (Osceola, Wis.) paced the Huskies, finishing 16th in 20:36.4.
Freshmen Jocie Wheeler (Annandale, Minn.) and Campbell Slattery (Big Lake, Minn) each made their collegiate debut, finishing third and fourth on the team respectively.

FAMILIAR TERRITORY
All three returners on this year's roster ran at Griak last season. Among the three, Abbygail Nunez was first in 27:01.5 (188th), followed by Hannah Little in 27:09.1 (193rd) and MerriAnna Johnson 28:06.9 (229th). The team finished 17th out of 24 teams in the field that featured just over 300 DII and DIII runners.

SEASON PREVIEW
St. Cloud State Cross Country was selected to finish t-12th in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. Additionally, sophomore Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) was named the preseason Athlete to Watch by the NSIC.
"This year's team brings a steady, hardworking approach to everything they do," said third-year head coach Gabrielle Brown. "They show up with the right attitude, take care of the details, and are committed to getting better every day."
The roster is comprised of one senior – Hannah Little (Grimes, Iowa), two sophomores – MerriAnna Johnson (Osceola, Wis.) and Nunez and three freshmen – Soniya Baruwal, Campbell Slattery (Big Lake, Minn), and Jocie Wheeler (Annandale, Minn.).
"Abby is the kind of athlete every coach hopes to have—hardworking, dependable, and always leading by example," said Brown. "She shows up every day ready to put in the work and lift up those around her. Abby's consistency and quiet confidence make her someone our whole team looks up to."
