BELLINGHAM, Wash. – No. 3 St. Cloud State Volleyball (2-2 overall, 0-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) earned a thrilling five-set win over (RV) Central Washington (2-1, 0-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) in its final match at the Western Washington Invitational on Saturday afternoon at WECU Gym at Carver Gym in Bellingham. TOP HUSKIES
"Today's match was crazy. It was so fun to see a bunch of younger players get opportunities and step up and play some great Husky Volleyball. When we play in these tournaments and have three matches in four days, it is so hard on the body, so we go in knowing that we probably will not play the same lineup all four matches. So today we made quite a few changes, and I thought those players really took advantage of their opportunities."
"Central Washington won its conference last year and is a perennially ranked team. They have a couple of fantastic attackers, and their left-handed opposite hitter can really give teams fits. We were so much better blocking today than we were the first two days, and our defense was able to set up better around it and do a much better job transitioning and getting kills."
"Our 82 kills are a record during my tenure at St Cloud State – Braya did a fantastic job running the offense in her first collegiate start, and Abby and Ella specifically offensively were very solid today with their point scoring. Overall, it was a solid weekend where we learned a lot about ourselves and gained valuable experience."
