St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey’s Season Ends in OT loss to No. 10 Minnesota Duluth

Huskies fall 2-1 in overtime to finish 2025-26 season
DULUTH, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (16-19-1, 9-14-1 NCHC) dropped a heartbreaker to No. 10 Minnesota Duluth (22-23-1, 11-12-1 NCHC) for the second consecutive night, losing a 2-1 overtime game to end its season on Saturday at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth. The Bulldogs scored an extra attacker goal with 31 seconds remaining and then again in overtime to clinch the win and NCHC Quarterfinals series win.
The Huskies scored first for the second time in as many nights when freshman Nolan Roed (White Bear Lake, Minn.) netted his second goal of the weekend at 8:44 of the first period. The Huskies were able to stop a clearing attempt from UMD and keep the puck in the zone, where senior defenseman Cooper Wylie (Stillwater, Minn.) fired a shot from above the left dot that was initially saved before rebound attempts from freshman forward Noah Urness (Roseau, Minn.) and then finally Roed, whose backhand attempt went five-hole and to the back of the net.
Neither team scored in the middle frame, with SCSU leading shots on goal 9-7. In the third period, Shostak turned away 16 Bulldog shots on goal before an extra attacker goal from Zam Plante with 31 seconds left tied the game at 1-1. In the overtime period, Zam Plante scored again at 5:11 to end the series.

- Junior forward Tyson Gross (Calgary, Alberta) went 14-9 in the faceoff dot, marking the 32nd time in 36 games he has won 10 or more faceoffs in a game.
