Gross Named CCM/ACHA Second Team All-American

Gross becomes 20th All-American in D-I program history
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Former St. Cloud State Men's Hockey forward Tyson Gross (Calgary, Alberta) was named a CCM/AHCA West Second Team All-American, as announced by the organization on Friday. The All-America recognition caps a banner season for Gross, who was named the NCHC Defensive Forward of the Year and earned an All-NCHC First Team selection.
Gross becomes the ninth forward and 20th player in in Division-I history to earn All-America honors and the 31st All-American overall. He is the first Husky to be named an All-American since Dylan Anhorn in 2023-24 and the first forward since Patrick Newell and Blake Lizotte earned All-America honors in 2018-19.
The All-American Husky scored 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points with seven power play goals, three game-winning goals and two shorthanded goals. He earned All-NCHC First Team recognition and was named the NCHC Defensive Forward of the Year. He was the only NCHC skater to be named a finalist for three NCHCA awards after also named a finalist for the NCHC Player of the Year and Forward of the Year.
The Hobey Baker nominee was named the NCHC Forward of the Week on Feb. 10, leads the NCAA in faceoff wins with 489, was the NCHC goal-scoring champion with 16 goals in conference play and finished second in the points race with 28 points. Gross' 41 points are the most by a Husky since 2018-19 (Patrick Newell, 46) while his 1.21 points per game is the best by a Husky since 2015-16 (Kale Kossila, 1.32). In addition to leading the NCAA in faceoff wins, Gross also finishes the season ranked fifth nationally in faceoff percentage (.589), 12th in power play goals (seven), 17th in points (41) and 25th in goals (18). He ranks among the NCHC's top-10 in each of those categories.
Gross scored a goal in 14 of 36 games while scoring a point in 25 of 36 games this past season. He scored two goals in four games, 2+ assists in six games and 2+ points in 12 games. In the faceoff dot, he won 10 or more faceoffs in 32 of 36 games, 15+ faceoff wins in 15 games and 20+ wins in two games. He is one of two players in the nation to have multiple streaks of 8+ games with a point. He was named the NCHC Forward of the Week after a four-goal, five-point performance in a series sweep over Arizona State (Feb. 6-7), scoring both game-winning goals with a shorthanded goal in both games. Since 2002-03, he is just the second Husky to have two career instances of 2+ goals in back-to-back games, and the only Husky to shorthanded goals in back-to-back games.
Gross began his collegiate career with back-to-back 20-point seasons, scoring 20 points (7-13-20) as a freshman in 2023-24 and a 25-point (9-16-25) campaign in 2024-25. Last season, he led the Huskies in assists (16) and ranked second in goals (nine), points (25), shots on goal (81) and power play goals (four). He earned NCHC Forward of the Week honors after a four-goal, five-point performance against Omaha (Dec. 6-7, 2024), becoming the first Husky to score four goals in a series since 2020-21 (Nolan Walker – Jan. 22-23, 2021) and the first to score two goals in back-to-back games since 2015-16 (Kale Kossila – Dec. 11-12, 2015).
In his three-year collegiate career, Gross scored 34 goals and 52 assists for 86 points in 106 career games. He became the 23rd skater in program history to begin his career with three consecutive 20-point seasons and the 60th in program history to reach 50 career assists. In the classroom, Gross earned NCHC Academic All-Conference honors in each of the last three seasons (2024-26).
An undrafted free agent, Gross signed an entry-level contract with his hometown Calgary Flames of the NHL on March 12 and has appeared in three NHL games since departing SCSU.
