Huskies to compete at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, MN
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Golf will travel to Lake City, MN to play in the Jewel Invitational hosted by the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears on Monday, September 21st and Tuesday, September 22nd. The Huskies will travel both their men's and women's teams to this tournament.
The Men's lineup will consist of Owen Hoehn, Peyton Carr, William Spence, Cameron Kaye, and Carter Whitworth. The Women's team will bring three individuals, Emma Forsberg, Emma Ryan, and Alyssa Scherping.
Scouting the Golf Course
As a member of the Audubon International, The Jewel has been recognized for its efforts in preserving environmental areas and wildlife habitats while maintaining unsurpassed course conditions. The 7,050-yard championship layout of bent grass tees, fairways, and greens offers a fair but challenging test for players of varying skill levels. Nestled in the Mississippi River valley grand bluffs of Lake City, The Jewel Golf Club offers up a unique golf experience. Designed by three-time US Open Winner, Hale Irwin, the course winds throughout 800 acres of the river valley.
Last Time Out
The Huskies are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Maverick Fall Brawl last Monday and Tuesday (September 14th and 15th).
Freshman, Owen Hoehn lead the way, as he finished tied for fifth, playing one shot better than round 1, shooting +2, good for a two-round total of 147 (+5). Peyton Carr finished tied for 24th, also shooting one shot better than round 1(+5) for a two-round total of 153 (+11), Will Spence shot a pair of 78's for a two-round total of 156 (+14), Carter Whitworth improved by three shots in round 2 to fire an 81 (+10) to finish with a two-round total of 165 (+23), and Cam Kaye finished the round with an 83 for a two-round total of 163 (+21).
The Husky women's team's three individuals finished the weekend with Freshman, Emma Forsberg leading the charge, shooting a 96 in round 2 for a two-round total of 199. Alyssa Scherping shot a two-round total of 222, and Emma Ryan rounded out the scoring with a two-round total of 279.
