Huskies to compete at Hawktree Golf Club in North Dakota
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Golf will travel to Bismarck, ND to play in the United Printing Marauders Invitational hosted by UMary at Hawktree Golf Club on September 28th-29th.
The Men's lineup will consist of Owen Hoehn, Cameron Kaye, William Spence, Noah Klapmeier and Tate Hellend. This will be Klapmeier and Hellend's season debut in the lineup with the Men's team. The Women's team will bring three individuals, Emma Forsberg, Emma Ryan, and Alyssa Scherping.
Scouting the Golf Course
Designed by renowned architect Jim Engh and opened in 2000, Hawktree is an 18-hole, par-72, 6,847-yard, public golf course featuring dramatic elevation changes, native prairie grasses, natural contours, three lakes, and Burnt Creek, which comes into play on several holes. One of the course's most distinctive features is its black coal-slag bunkers, which create a striking contrast against the surrounding landscape.
Last Time Out
The Huskies are coming off a 10th place finish at The Jewel Invitational, which included multiple personal best 36-hole scores from the Huskies.
St. Cloud State Golf completed round two of The Jewel Invitational hosted by Concordia-St. Paul. The Huskies Men's team was 12 shots better than yesterday, shooting a team score of 301, for a two-day total of 614, while the Women's team competed with three individuals.
Cameron Kaye finished first on the team at +4 (75, 73 = 148). Will Spence tied Kaye today with a season low +1 (73) to finish second on the team at +7 (154) alongside Owen Hoehn, who improved by five shots at +2 (74), for an overall score of +7 (154). Peyton Carr was +9 (81) today, improving by four shots from yesterday for a two-round total of +22 (166), while Carter Whitworth's score did not count today, finishing with a two-round total of +21 (165).
The Husky women's team included Emma Forsberg, Alyssa Scherping, and Emma Ryan. The three golfers completed The Jewel Invitational, as they look to continue improving throughout the season.
