Bio
2018: As a senior, Nier played and started in all 26 matches for St. Cloud State as a middle blocker. She tallied 160 kills in 89 sets with just 60 errors in 439 attempts for a season hitting percentage of .228. Nier recorded a career-high 15 kills in the Huskies 3-2 loss to Minnesota State in late October and recorded a career-high .435 hitting percentage in a win over No. 10 Southwest Minnesota State.
2017: As a junior, Nier played and started all 30 matches for the Huskies... she tallied 143 kills in 97 sets, with 70 digs and 56 blocks (6 solo, 50 assists)... Nier tallied a career-high 12 kills twice during the season and was second on the team in both hitting percentage (.206) and total blocks (6)... Nier received Academic All-Conference honors...
2016: Played in 28 matches and 90 sets in 2016...charted 155 kills, 22 digs, 39 block assists and two solo blocks...had a season-high 13 kills at Upper Iowa on Nov. 12...named to 2016 NSIC All-Academic team.
2015: Appeared in 37 sets and 22 matches in her first year with the Huskies…posted 18 kills, averaging .49 kills per set…recorded a season-high three kills against Illinois-Springfield (9/5/15)…finished with 8 digs and 11 total blocks.
Before SCSU: Nier is a 2015 graduate of Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School...three sport athlete, she earned four varsity letters each in volleyball and basketball, and three in track...a two-time volleyball team captain...as a junior, she led her team to the Central Wisconsin Conference Eight championships and was named first team All-conference and Player of the Year, second team All-Area and the team MVP...Nier is a two-time All-Conference player and her team won two conference titles in her four seasons with the team..played nine years with Wisconsin Ice Volleyball clubs...a senior captain of her prep high school basketball team that has won three straight conference championships...earned All-Conference first team honors and Honorable Mention All-Area team honors...as a track athlete, she competed in the high jump, triple jump and hurdles. The team has won three conference titles and Nier has been a sectional qualifier in each of those years....an All-Conference track performer and state qualifier...qualified for state in the triple jump.
Personal: Nier has a strong academic background, with conference All-Academic, National Honor Society and Academic High Honors awards...enjoys relaxing on the lake, wake boarding, tubing, snowboarding, four-wheeling, watching movies and spending time with family and friends...the daughter of Christine and Eric Nier of Hatley, Wis.
